This is a developing story. Live updates are being added to the live blog below as they come in.
Vincent Road in Woolwich is closed in both directions this evening after an emergency services incident, with slow traffic building around the closure and a diversion in operation.
The AA said: “Road closed and slow traffic due to emergency services incident on Vincent Road Both ways between General Gordon Place (Woolwich Arsenal Station) and Burrage Road. Diversion in operation – bus Routes Affected 53,54, 96,161.”
The closure runs between General Gordon Place, by Woolwich Arsenal station, and Burrage Road, so drivers heading through the area should expect delays and follow the signed diversion. Bus passengers on routes 53, 54, 96 and 161 are also affected while the diversion is in place.
No further details about the incident have been confirmed at this stage, and no reopening time has been given. We will update this page as soon as more information is available.
Elsewhere on the roads today, drivers also faced long delays after a crash near Thorpe left the M25 and M3 congested, while a crash on the A406 in Walthamstow closed two lanes. In Woolwich itself, police earlier today confirmed an arrest over the shooting on Frances Street.
