Crash near Thorpe leaves M25 and M3 drivers facing long delays

Published at 2:06pm

Emergency services are attending a crash that has closed lanes on the motorway network near Thorpe, leaving drivers facing long delays on Thursday afternoon.

The incident is affecting both the M25 and the M3, with congestion building on the M25 in both directions around the junction between the two motorways.

Traffic information service the AA reported long delays, with one lane closed and an entry slip road partially blocked because of an accident on the M3 southbound at junction 2, where it meets the M25.

Congestion on the M25 was reported stretching back to junction 10 for the A3 at Wisley in one direction and junction 13 at Staines in the other. Two lanes have since reopened past the scene, according to the latest update.

This is a developing story. Updates will be added to the live blog below as more information becomes available.

No details have yet been confirmed about any injuries, the vehicles involved, or when the road will fully reopen. Drivers in the area are advised to allow extra time and to check before travelling.

Elsewhere on the network today, two lanes were closed on the A406 North Circular near Walthamstow after a crash, while a separate M25 crash closed lanes between junctions 26 and 27. Earlier in the week, a crash on the M25 near Denham Way caused miles of queues towards Chorleywood.
