More than 30 employers will gather in Beckenham next week for a free careers fair aimed at helping young people take their first steps into the world of work.
The Beckenham and Penge Careers Fair, hosted by MP Liam Conlon, will take place on October 23 at Orion Eden Park High School in Beckenham, from 12pm to 3pm.
Open to students from Key Stage 4 through to graduate level, the event will showcase opportunities for work experience, internships, apprenticeships and graduate roles.
More than 30 employers from 10 different sectors will attend, including national and international firms such as PwC, Lloyds Bank and British Gas, as well as businesses in energy, aviation, rail, healthcare, housing and leisure.
MP Conlon said: “Our young people are talented and ambitious, but often lack the information and connections to the world of work. Before becoming an MP, I worked in tech for over a decade and loved my job.”
“Whether it’s work experience, apprenticeships, internships or graduate roles — or simply starting to think a few years ahead — I want to do all I can to give every young person every chance, and that’s what this careers fair will help with.”
The event comes at a time when nearly a million 16 to 24-year-olds in the UK are not in education, employment or training.
It is free to attend and open to all young people in the area. Attendees can register online to secure their place.
London Streets has been covering the Beckenham Odeon rally and Archway’s record store this week.
