Woodheyes Road has been closed in both directions this evening while crash investigation work continues following a collision earlier this afternoon.
The road is shut between the A406 North Circular and Gresham Road, and the disruption has already been dragging on for several hours — the incident was first reported at around 2.35pm.
Drivers are facing long delays around the closure, with congestion building towards Brent Cross and stretching back along the North Circular. Motorists heading through the area are advised to allow extra time and consider alternative routes.
It is not yet known what caused the crash, and further details have not been confirmed. We will update this page as soon as more information is available.
It comes on a difficult day for drivers in the capital. The North Circular earlier saw major queues after a crash at Henlys Corner, while in north-west London a truck fire on Chamberlayne Road sent thick black smoke over the area. A 55-hour eastbound closure of the A40 Westway also begins at 10pm tonight.
