A 51-year-old man was taken to hospital with potentially life-changing injuries after a serious assault on a U1 bus in Uxbridge.
The incident happened on Belmont Road at around 2pm on Monday 2 November, on a U1 public bus.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Around 14:00hrs on Monday, 2 November officers were called to Belmont Road, Uxbridge following a report of a serious assault on a bus.”
“The London Ambulance Service attended, and a 51-year-old man was taken to hospital.”
“His injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening, but potentially life-changing.”
Police say no arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who has information which can assist, is urged to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
The distinction police have drawn matters: “not life-threatening” means the man’s life is not considered at immediate risk, while “potentially life-changing” means his injuries could have lasting effects on his health or daily life. No further details about the nature of his injuries or the circumstances of the assault have been released, and no suspect description has been issued.
Officers are appealing in particular to anyone who was on the bus or in the Belmont Road area around 2pm on Monday to come forward, as passenger accounts could prove crucial to the investigation.
It is the latest serious violent incident in the capital to prompt a police witness appeal, after a man was charged over a double shooting in Islington and new Met figures showed 429 gun-crime offences across London in three months.
