Gun crime across London hit 429 offences in three months, Met figures show

Published at 6:03am

Met Police figures recorded 429 gun crime offences across London in just three months, with Westminster, Lambeth and Haringey recording the highest borough totals.

The Metropolitan Police dashboard figures cover July to September 2026. August saw the highest monthly total, with 158 offences, compared with 141 in July and 130 in September — a fall of 28 offences between August and September, making September the quietest month of the three.

Among the boroughs listed, Westminster recorded the highest number, with 28 offences, followed by Lambeth with 24 and Haringey with 22. Croydon had 21, while Lewisham and Newham each recorded 20.

Bromley and Southwark both recorded 18 offences, Brent and Ealing 17 each, and Barnet 16. Camden and Greenwich recorded 15 each, while Barking and Dagenham, Hillingdon, Tower Hamlets and Wandsworth each recorded 12.

At the lower end, Hounslow recorded two offences, Kingston upon Thames and Richmond upon Thames four each, and Havering, Merton, Redbridge and Sutton six each.

The dashboard also breaks the total down by category, listing 55 offences under Gun Crime Personal Robbery and 27 under Lethal Barrel Discharge. These are categories within the wider 429 total, not additional offences to be added on top of it.

The figures come alongside several major gun incidents in recent weeks. A man was shot dead in a targeted attack at a pub in Enfield on 19 October, prompting a major police investigation. In Islington, two men were shot and a third man stabbed near Parkfield Street on 27 October, leading to an attempted murder charge. And on 2 October, 40-year-old Levi Davidson was killed after multiple shots were heard near a community centre in East Acton during a memorial service.

The three-month total sits against a wider backdrop of violent crime in the capital. Separate figures showed 3,491 knife-crime victims across London over the summer months, while a Home Office campaign against knife crime launched in Westminster and Croydon this month.

Police urge anyone with information about gun crime to contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
