British Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to after a reported sexual assault at Parsons Green Underground station in west London.
The incident took place at the station just after midnight on Tuesday, October 13. A man is reported to have sexually assaulted a woman at the station before leaving through the barriers.
British Transport Police believe the man pictured in the CCTV images may have information that could assist their investigation.
“Detectives would like to speak to the man pictured, as they believe he may have information which could help their ongoing investigation.”
Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference 17 of 13 October.
How to pass on information
The text number 61016 and the freephone number 0800 40 50 40 are British Transport Police’s non-emergency contact routes for the rail network. Anyone getting in touch about this appeal is asked to quote reference 17 of 13 October, which identifies this investigation so the information reaches the right officers.
Information can be passed on even if it seems small. A sighting, a name, or a detail about where the man pictured may have been before or after the incident could all help detectives piece together what happened.
What “may have information” means
The man pictured has not been charged with any offence. Police release CCTV images in appeals like this when they believe the person pictured may hold information that could help an investigation — that is not the same as naming a suspect, and it does not mean the person pictured committed an offence.
Appeals of this kind rely on the public recognising someone from a station, a train, or a journey. Officers then speak to that person to establish what, if anything, they know.
Detectives continue to investigate the reported assault at Parsons Green station. Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 61016 or 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 17 of 13 October.
