Clerkenwell stabbing: Section 60 order in place

The Metropolitan Police has authorised a Section 60 order covering Caledonian Road, Clerkenwell and Hoxton, giving officers enhanced stop and search powers. The order runs from 4pm on Friday, 18 September, to 6am on Saturday, 19 September.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in the local area, said: “This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young man who has lost his life.”

Appeal for witnesses after Clerkenwell murder

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference CAD 8475/16SEP. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A Section 60 authorisation allows officers to stop and search people without the usual requirement of reasonable suspicion, and can be used when police believe serious violence may occur or weapons may be carried in a specific area.
