Travellers cleared from Gladstone Park after ‘erratic’ caravan driving

A group of travellers has been cleared from Gladstone Park after reports of caravans “driving erratically” through the Brent park.

Officers were called to Gladstone Park at around 1:10pm on Wednesday, October 14, following reports of a group of vehicles gaining access to the park.

Councillor Tariq Dar MBE, of the Cricklewood and Mapesbury ward, said the vehicles had been “driving erratically” in the area. Another witness reported “several” vehicles “driving very fast and without care” along footpaths and in the park.

“This is very dangerous and police should be sent out,” a dog walker said.

Officers attended and spoke with the group, who are said to be engaging with police. No arrests were made.

“All caravans and vehicles have left the site as advised by the Met Police,” a Brent Council spokesperson said. “At this point there have been no new reports of encampments on any other council lands.”

The council had previously given the encampment a deadline of 10am today (October 15) to leave the site.
