A person was taken to safety and another arrested after an early-morning incident near the railway line in Orpington.

British Transport Police officers were called to the railway near St Mary Cray station at 5:10am on Wednesday, October 14, following reports of concern for welfare.

“Officers attended and a person was taken to a place of safety,” a British Transport Police spokesperson said. “A second person was arrested on suspicion of obstructing the railway. They have since been bailed whilst enquiries continue.”

Ambulance crews were also sent to nearby Mill Brook Road. “We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and paramedics from our Hazardous Area Response Team,” a London Ambulance Service spokesperson said. “We assessed a patient and discharged them at the scene.”

Millbrook Road was closed in both directions between Station Road and Sandway Road while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Enquiries remain ongoing.
