M25 clockwise crash closes lanes between junctions 26 and 27

Published at 10:54am

A crash on the M25 clockwise between junctions 26 and 27 has closed lanes and left drivers facing congestion, with recovery work now underway.

The crash was reported on the clockwise carriageway between junction 26, for Waltham Abbey, and junction 27, where the motorway meets the M11. Lanes have been closed while the scene is dealt with, and queues have built up on the approach.

A lorry is involved in the incident, and vehicle recovery is underway. No further details about injuries, the number of vehicles involved or when the road will fully reopen have been confirmed at this stage.

This is a developing story. Updates will appear in the live feed below as they come in.

Drivers heading clockwise past Waltham Abbey towards the M11 interchange should expect delays until the scene is cleared. The clockwise carriageway has seen several incidents this week, including a crash near Denham Way that brought miles of traffic, while elsewhere in the capital a collapsed manhole shut a lane of the A406 North Circular near Redbridge.

We will update this page as soon as more confirmed information is available.
