Police have confirmed there was no stabbing in an incident in Wealdstone on Monday evening, despite initial reports suggesting a knife attack.
Officers were called to Masons Avenue, Harrow, at 5.37pm on Monday 26 October after initial reports of a suspected stabbing. When they arrived, they established that an altercation had taken place — but no stabbing had occurred, and no injuries have been reported.
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of affray. An arrest on suspicion is not a charge, and no charge has been reported at this stage.
A Met Police spokesman said: “On Monday, 26 October, at 17:37hrs, police were called to reports of a suspected stabbing on Masons Avenue, Harrow. Officers attended the scene and confirmed there had been an altercation, but no stabbing. They arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of affray. No injuries have been reported at this time.”
The distinction matters because the first reports of the incident described a suspected stabbing. It was only after officers attended the scene that the position was corrected: an altercation, not a stabbing, and nobody hurt.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference CAD 4983/26OCT.
In a separate incident in Finsbury Park, police are investigating a stabbing in which a 14-year-old boy was taken to hospital and another 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm: Two 14-year-olds at centre of inquiry after teenager hurt in north London stabbing. A man has separately been charged after a stabbing at Brixton station: Brixton station stabbing: man charged and remanded.
