A grab-and-go sushi chain is opening a new restaurant in Wimbledon at the end of October, and the first 100 customers through the door will get their food free. SushiDog will launch its 18th branch at 7 Wimbledon Bridge on Friday, October 30, with a weekend of special deals to celebrate the opening.

The chain is known for its fresh, made-to-order rolls, signature bowls and salads, and says it is hoping to become a new lunchtime favourite for people living and working in the area. The grab-and-go format is aimed at busy workers and shoppers looking for a fresher alternative to the standard high-street lunch. The Wimbledon site marks the brand’s continued expansion across the capital and the rest of the UK.
The menu centres on the chain’s made-to-order rolls alongside its signature bowls and salads, with the Wimbledon kitchen preparing dishes fresh throughout the day for the lunch crowd and beyond.
Free sushi and half-price deals for launch weekend
To celebrate the opening, the first 100 customers from 12pm on Friday, October 30 will be able to choose a complimentary Signature SushiDog, Sushi Bowl or Sushi Salad. All customers will also be able to enjoy 50 per cent off their orders until 5.30pm on opening day.
There will also be the chance to win prizes from the SushiDog spin game, which runs between 12pm and 2pm on the Friday. The game returns on Saturday, October 31, again from 12pm to 2pm, with 50 per cent off available from 12pm to 5.30pm. The first 100 customers on both days will also receive a free tote bag to take home.
Friday’s launch day centres on midday, with the free food giveaway and the spin game both starting at 12pm, and the 50 per cent discount running until 5.30pm. Anyone hoping to claim one of the free dishes will need to arrive in good time, as the complimentary food is strictly limited to the first 100 customers from midday. Even those who miss out can still eat for half price until 5.30pm.
Co-founder calls Wimbledon a natural next step
Greg Islen, SushiDog co-founder, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening our eighteenth store in Wimbledon, the expansion into Southwest London felt like a natural next step for SushiDog. As we continue to grow, we aim to bring our stores to more areas of London and the UK, so everyone can enjoy SushiDog wherever they are.”
The Wimbledon branch is the company’s 18th store, and bosses say the move into Southwest London felt like a natural next step. The chain has been steadily growing its presence, with the aim of bringing its restaurants to more areas of London and the UK.
More new openings across the capital
SushiDog is the latest chain to bet on London’s appetite for new openings. Jersey Mike’s is making its UK debut with four London sub restaurants opening this November, while a giant Italian restaurant called Juno is preparing to open at Olympia. In South London, Sutton’s McDonald’s has reopened its doors with a bold new look following a major refit.
Where and when to find it
The new restaurant will be at 7 Wimbledon Bridge, London SW19 7NH, opening on Friday, October 30. With the giveaway starting at midday, sushi fans hoping to eat free would be wise to get there early.
With half-price deals running across the full opening weekend, plus prizes on the spin game and free tote bags for the first 100 customers each day, the launch is expected to draw a crowd. Saturday’s repeat of the spin game and the 50 per cent discount give anyone who misses Friday’s free food a second chance to try the new branch at a reduced price. The deals form part of the two-day launch weekend celebrations.
