Paddington trains face all-day disruption after overhead wires damaged

Published at 8:03am

Train services between London Paddington and Didcot Parkway are facing disruption for the rest of the day after overhead wires were damaged, National Rail has warned.

The warning came on Wednesday morning, with disruption expected to last until the end of the day. Services on the route are affected, and passengers travelling between the two stations should expect their journeys to be disrupted.

Overhead wires carry the power that electric trains run on, so damage to them can stop trains running normally on the affected stretch of line until repairs are made. No further detail about the extent of the damage, or about how many services are affected, has been given in the initial warning.

This is a developing story. Updates will be added to the live blog below as they come in.
