Hayes search for missing man brings in police helicopter

Published at 9:50am

Police officers with torchlights searched a residential road in Hayes for a “high risk” missing man, with a police helicopter called in to help.

Several officers searched the area on foot while many police vehicles were seen parked near Parsonage Close yesterday, Thursday, November 5, from around 5pm.

A police helicopter from the National Police Air Service was also called to the scene to assist officers in the search for the missing person. He was eventually found by the crew operating the police helicopter and he was taken to officers.

The helicopter reportedly circled around the area for around 49 minutes, drawing attention from residents who posted about it on social media.

Police describe a missing person as “high risk” when they are thought to be at risk of serious harm, which is why the search brought in both ground officers and air support. National Police Air Service helicopters carry thermal-imaging cameras and searchlights, allowing crews to scan streets, gardens and open ground from above, including after dark.

Parsonage Close sits in a residential part of Hayes, in west London’s Borough of Hillingdon. No further information has been released about how long the man had been missing, or where exactly he was found.

Further details about the missing man and the search have not been shared at this time. The Metropolitan Police has been approached for more information.
