Man hospitalised after stabbing near Dollis Hill station in north-west London

Published at 11:55am

A man has been taken to hospital after a stabbing near Dollis Hill station in north-west London, with two men arrested in connection with the attack.

Police were called to Chapter Road at 1.10pm on Saturday (17 October), where officers found a 25-year-old man with a knife wound. He was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

Two arrests

A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm. A 21-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of affray. Both remain in police custody.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 13.10hrs on Saturday, 17 October following reports of a stabbing on Chapter Road, Dollis Hill. A 25-year-old man was found at the scene with a knife wound and taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service, where his condition was deemed not to be life-changing or life-threatening.”

Police appeal

Detectives are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information should call 101 quoting CAD 3190/17OCT, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Dollis Hill, on the Jubilee line in the London Borough of Brent, is a busy residential area. The stabbing is the latest in a series of knife incidents across the capital that have kept violent crime high on the political agenda.

Knife crime in London

Knife crime remains one of London’s most pressing policing challenges. The Metropolitan Police has repeatedly stressed the importance of community intelligence in tackling knife violence, urging Londoners to report concerns about weapons before incidents occur.

Chapter Road runs close to Dollis Hill station, a well-used transport hub connecting the area to central London. Saturday afternoon would have been a busy time, with shoppers and families in the area — detectives will be hoping witnesses come forward.

Brent is one of London’s most diverse boroughs, and Dollis Hill sits between the busier centres of Willesden Green and Neasden. The area around the station is largely residential, with the kind of parade shops and cafes where an incident like this sends shockwaves through the local community.

What happens next

With two suspects in custody, detectives will now work to establish the full circumstances of the attack — including whether those involved knew each other and what led to the violence. The 22-year-old faces the more serious allegation of wounding with intent, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment if charged and convicted.

Forensic officers will have examined the scene on Chapter Road for evidence, while detectives review CCTV from the area — including footage from the station and nearby shops. In stabbing investigations, the first 48 hours are often critical for securing witness accounts while memories are fresh.

Police cordons in the area have since been lifted, but officers are likely to maintain a visible presence in the coming days to reassure residents. Local Safer Neighbourhood teams often step up patrols after violent incidents, and community meetings are sometimes held to address residents’ concerns.

The victim’s recovery will also be monitored. While his injuries were described as not life-threatening or life-changing, any knife wound can have lasting physical and psychological effects, and victim support services will be available to him and his family.

London’s Violence Reduction Unit continues to fund community programmes aimed at steering young people away from knife carrying, but the persistence of stabbings — including in broad daylight at weekends — shows the scale of the challenge facing police, councils and community groups alike.

The investigation continues. Anyone who was in the Chapter Road area on Saturday afternoon and saw anything suspicious is urged to come forward.
