Crash closes A13 East India Dock Road with diversions in place

Published at 12:29pm

A major east London route has been closed after a crash, with traffic building up near the Blackwall Tunnel and buses diverted.

The A13 East India Dock Road is closed out of town from the A12/A102 Blackwall Tunnel to the A1026 Leamouth Road for accident investigation work. The incident was first reported at 9.45am on Wednesday 4 November.

Traffic is congested for a mile from the Blackwall Tunnel, and bus route 115 is currently being diverted via alternative routes.

East India Dock Road is a key artery for east London: it carries traffic out of the Blackwall Tunnel towards Canning Town and Barking, and a closure at its western end pushes that flow onto surrounding roads. With the road shut for investigation work rather than a quick clear-up, drivers should expect the disruption to last and plan an alternative route.

Bus passengers on route 115 should check live departure information, as diversions are in place around the closure. Drivers heading out of town are advised to avoid the Blackwall Tunnel approach where possible until the road reopens.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
