Homes near Queen Elizabeth Hospital have been evacuated after a house fire in Blackheath spread to a neighbouring property this afternoon. Adjoining properties on Mansergh Close have all been evacuated as a precaution, the London Fire Brigade has said, and no injuries have been reported at this stage.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters are at the scene. Stadium Road is closed from Ha-Ha Road to Baker Road, near the hospital, and buses to Queen Elizabeth Hospital are diverted to avoid Baker Street — routes 161, 178, 244, 291, 386, 469 and 486. Traffic is said to be coping well.

The fire was first reported on Stadium Road near Shooters Hill, close to the hospital. The London Fire Brigade has since confirmed the fire is actually a house fire on Mansergh Close.

Drivers and people heading to the hospital area are being advised to expect disruption around the scene while emergency services remain in attendance. No further details about the fire, including any injuries, have been confirmed at this stage.

This is a developing story and this article will be updated as more information becomes available.
