Hamilton Road in Southall was shut in both directions on Sunday morning after an emergency services incident, before the road later appeared to have reopened.
The closure ran between the A3005 South Road and Avenue Road, cutting off a stretch of road used by drivers and bus passengers in the area. A diversion was put in place while the road was shut, and bus route H32 was affected.
By late morning, the picture had changed. The road appeared to have reopened, although the nature of the incident that caused the closure was still unclear at that stage.
Drivers and bus passengers heading through the area were advised to check before travelling, as the situation was still developing through the morning.
What happened on Hamilton Road
The closure was first reported on Sunday morning, with Hamilton Road shut both ways from South Road to Avenue Road. The closure was put down to an emergency services incident, and a diversion was brought in to keep traffic moving around the closed stretch.
Bus route H32, which serves the area, was diverted while the closure was in place, meaning passengers travelling through Southall faced changes to their usual journeys.
Later in the morning came a further update: the road appeared to have reopened. No further detail was given about what had happened, and the nature of the incident remained unclear.
That leaves two questions still open for people travelling in the area: whether the road has fully returned to normal, and what caused the closure in the first place. Both remain unconfirmed.
