Reece Salmon, 28, named as Lloyd Baker Street stabbing victim as Section 60 stop-and-search authorised

The victim of the Lloyd Baker Street stabbing has been formally named as Reece Salmon, 28, as the Metropolitan Police authorised Section 60 stop-and-search powers across parts of north and east London.

Mr Salmon was attacked shortly before 11.20pm on Wednesday on the affluent Islington street, dubbed “millionaires’ row”, and was rushed to hospital, where he died the following day. A murder investigation was launched earlier this week, as London Streets previously reported.

In a statement issued through police, his family said: “We are utterly devastated by this loss. Reece was a loving partner and son, and he leaves behind many friends and loved ones. It is impossible to put our loss into words.”

Detectives hunting his killer have made no arrests so far. Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to contact police on 101, quoting reference CAD 8475/16SEP.

A Section 60 order has been authorised across Caledonian Road, Clerkenwell and Hoxton, giving officers enhanced powers to stop and search people and vehicles without the usual grounds for suspicion. The order runs from 4pm on Friday until 6am on Saturday.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads local policing, said: “This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young man who has lost his life. You can expect to see additional officers in the area providing visible reassurance and working with partners to keep the public safe. The victim was found in a residential street, and members of the public may have information of vital importance to our investigation. If you can help, please come forward.”

Floral tributes have been laid at the scene by the victim’s family and friends.

Lloyd Baker Street is one of Islington’s most expensive residential addresses, with homes on the street selling for as much as £2.25 million in the past year.
