Drivers are facing long delays on the A406 North Circular this afternoon after a crash brought traffic to a standstill near Stirling Way. Lanes have been stopped following a collision involving two vehicles, and queues are building through the surrounding area as a result.
The incident was reported this afternoon, and traffic is said to be crawling on the approach to the scene, with congestion spreading to nearby roads. Motorists are being advised to allow plenty of extra time for their journeys, and to consider alternative routes where possible while the clear-up continues.
This is a developing story and details are still emerging. We will bring you the latest updates — including lane reopenings and the state of traffic — in our live blog below, so keep this page refreshed.
Drivers elsewhere in London have also faced disruption. Earlier we reported on a crash that closed Belmont Rise in Sutton in both directions, a lorry fire that shut two lanes of the M25 near Enfield and a building fire on Shooters Hill Road in Blackheath.
