London Overground passengers face a weekend of major disruption this Saturday and Sunday, with closures affecting all four London Overground lines as Network Rail carries out engineering and maintenance works.
Passengers are being advised to check before they travel, allow extra time for their journeys and use London Underground services or local and replacement bus routes where rail services are suspended.
Lioness Line
On the Lioness line, there will be no service between Euston and Kilburn High Road on Sunday 27 September until noon and after 8.30pm. Passengers are advised to use Tube services or local bus routes instead. The disruption is due to Network Rail maintenance work.
Mildmay Line
The Mildmay line is hit by a series of overnight closures. On Thursday 24 September, there will be no westbound service from Camden Road to Willesden Junction after 11.45pm. Then on the nights of Thursday 24 and Friday 25 September, there will be no southbound service from Willesden Junction to Shepherd’s Bush until 6.15am each morning. On Sunday 27 September, there will be no service between Camden Road and Stratford after 10.15pm. Passengers should use Tube services or local bus routes, with replacement buses running where advertised.
Weaver Line
The Weaver line faces the most extensive disruption. On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, there will be no service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town/Cheshunt. Football fans heading to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday are advised to use the Victoria line from Seven Sisters or Tottenham Hale, or Greater Anglia services to and from Northumberland Park. On Sunday 27 September, there will also be no service between Liverpool Street and Chingford until 10.15am. The works continue into the following week: from Monday 28 September until Thursday 1 October, there will be no service between Hackney Downs and Chingford after 10.45pm each night. Passengers are advised to use Tube services or local and replacement bus routes.
Windrush Line
On the Windrush line, there will be no service between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction on Sunday 27 September until 9am, with Windrush line services calling at Battersea Park instead of Clapham Junction. Passengers are advised to use local bus routes or Southern Railway trains between Battersea Park and Clapham Junction. The disruption is due to Network Rail maintenance work.
TfL says passengers should check their journey before travelling and allow extra time. The closures come as Londoners adjust to the recent rise in Silvertown and Blackwall tunnel tolls, and follow the widespread Tube and Overground disruption seen across London last weekend.
TfL is urging passengers to use its Journey Planner and the TfL Go app for live service updates, as engineering works can change at short notice. Anyone who needs step-free access or assistance is advised to speak to station staff, as replacement bus services may not always offer the same level of accessibility. Passengers delayed by 15 minutes or more on TfL rail services may also be entitled to compensation under TfL’s refunds policy.
