More than 12,000 runners took to the streets of Shoreditch on Sunday 20 September for the first-ever Saucony Run Shoreditch Half, a sold-out debut watched by around 15,000 supporters.
The 13.1-mile route took in Hoxton Market, Clissold Park, Stoke Newington and De Beauvoir, with each neighbourhood creating its own atmosphere to push runners on. The race started and finished by Shoreditch Park, which hosted the event village — home to food vendors, music and entertainment. Organisers said more than 15,000 spectators lined the route, with local cafés and bakeries joining in the celebrations.
The half marathon follows the launch of Saucony Run Shoreditch as a 10k last year. After that event’s success, organisers Motiv Sports extended the race to the half marathon distance, with extra places to meet demand.
Winners
Patrick Maher won the men’s race in 1:09:15, ahead of Thomas Holliday (1:09:32) and Magnus Ross (1:10:27). In the women’s race, Becky Briggs took victory in 1:17:12, followed by Sophie Bradick (1:18:25) and Charlotte Smith (1:19:51).
More than £110,000 for charity
Many runners took part as fundraisers, raising more than £110,000 for the event’s official charity partners — headline partner Alzheimer’s Society, along with Barts Charity and Tommy’s.
It follows a summer of mass-participation charity running in the capital: Katie Piper joined thousands taking on a trio of London Ultras to raise more than £2 million for charity.

Second edition in 2027
As well as headline sponsor Saucony, the event was supported by Runna, Celsius, Runseek, e.l.f., Jubel and OTE, which ran cheer zones, activations and freebies along the route and in the event village.
The route passed through streets in the London Borough of Hackney, where the council has urged TfL to rethink planned bus cuts as a consultation closed.
Motiv Sports UK and Saucony also run the Saucony London 10k, which returns to central London next year on 11 July — followed by the second edition of the Saucony Run Shoreditch Half on 19 September 2027.
