Seven Dials Market to bring daily snow to Covent Garden this Christmas

Published at 6:29am

Seven Dials Market in Covent Garden is promising Londoners a guaranteed white Christmas this year, with indoor snow falling twice a day from next week.

The market’s Banana Warehouse will be transformed into a winter wonderland, with snow showers at 3pm and 8pm every day from Thursday 12 November until 31 December.

The 8pm shower will open a festive Baileys happy hour at the Warehouse Bar, running from 8pm to 9pm daily. Visitors will be able to try Baileys Espresso Martini cocktails in Salted Caramel and Terry’s Chocolate Orange flavours, priced at £8, alongside Baileys on Ice and Salted Caramel White Russians.

The market’s independent traders are also getting into the festive spirit, with a string of limited-edition specials putting a Christmas twist on their usual menus.

The Bad Boy Pizza Society is serving a four-cheese pizza — the Cheeseboard Pizza — topped with mozzarella, mascarpone, taleggio and parmesan, with fig chutney and a cracker crumb. Stakehaus, winner of Time Out London’s Christmas Sandwich Awards 2024, has created The Beef Before Christmas: sticky braised beef with melted mature cheddar, red cabbage and sprout slaw, pigs-in-blankets crumble and a cranberry chilli chutney.

Lucky’s is coating its signature wings and strips in Alabama White Sauce with a sprinkle of parmesan, while MASA tacos is serving Après Navidad — a white corn tortilla filled with adobo beef, melted raclette, cranberry jalapeño salsa and cornichons.

Yum Bun is offering a red braised beef bun, with sticky aromatic beef shin tucked into a classic bao with pickled cucumber, coriander, pickled chilli and toasted peanuts. Pick & Cheese’s conveyor belt will feature a British Raclette Baguette Station, with Ogleshield raclette, baguette, ham, onions and pickles.

Oh My Dog! is serving a Glizzy on Horseback — smoked pork and beef bockwurst in a steamed demi-brioche bun with fig, date and madeira ketchup, whipped goat’s cheese, crispy parma ham, fresh parsley, orange zest and cracked black pepper. HOKO’s classic wontons get a festive twist as crispy Evergreen Wontons, filled with vegetables and dusted with red shichimi spice.

Mezzo is serving Bianco Natale, tagliatelle Alfredo topped with creamy burrata, truffle oil and a snowfall of freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano. And for dessert, Chin Chin and Mello have teamed up on The Profiterole Party Popper Pour Over — a red profiterole choux bun filled with vanilla cream and strawberry coulis, served with warm caramelised chocolate sauce and pine-flavoured edible ‘snow’.

The market’s Christmas transformation is being carried out in collaboration with Baileys, with the aim of creating a spot where Londoners can gather with friends, enjoy a drink and tuck into something seasonal in the heart of the city.

It is one of a host of festive openings across the capital this winter. London’s Christmas markets are opening across the city this weekend, and food lovers have already had plenty to celebrate — a Bermondsey pizzeria has just won a national pizza award.
