The Prince Albert, a long-standing fixture at 2 Broadway in Bexleyheath, will reopen under new management on Saturday 7 November.
The pub’s future had been uncertain after its previous operators announced in June that they would be leaving following nearly seven years at the pub. Former operators Zoë, Phil and Alex cited rising costs — including a doubling of rent and energy bills reaching up to £4,500 a month — and highlighted the wider challenges facing independent pubs, urging residents to support local businesses as running costs continue to climb.
The new tenants, Marc and Danielle, bring years of hospitality experience, including work in traditional pubs and cocktail bars, and plan to introduce regular entertainment nights featuring DJs, live music and more. The reopening celebration will run from midday until late, with visitors able to meet the new team, karaoke from 4pm courtesy of DMG Karaoke, and Mexican street food by Wrap Heaven throughout the day.
Wrap Heaven’s menu includes burrito bowls from £11, quesadillas from £10, tacos from £4, loaded nachos for £8 and wraps — including chicken salad and ham salad — at £7, with both meat and vegetarian options, plus munch boxes from £27 and specials on the day.
The Prince Albert, housed in a 19th-century building, has long been a landmark at the top of Bexleyheath Broadway and a favourite among locals, and its reopening is seen as a welcome return for a much-loved pub. The pub’s existing website currently lists it as temporarily closed, so visitors are advised to check the Prince Albert Bexleyheath Facebook page for updates or last-minute changes, and to arrive early, as a strong turnout is expected.
