Standstill on M4 near Langley as crash closes lanes, sparking long queues

Published at 8:16pm

Drivers approaching the junction have been told to allow extra time while the stoppage continues, with queueing traffic building on the eastbound carriageway.

The M4 is one of the main routes into west London and the capital, and closures at peak times regularly cause congestion to spread onto surrounding roads including the A4.

Motorists are being advised to check live traffic conditions before setting off and to consider alternative routes where possible.

We are following this developing story with live updates as the situation changes.

Elsewhere on the roads today, motorists faced hour-long delays on the M25 near Cobham, while a crash caused delays near Upminster and disruption hit the M25 around Heathrow and Staines.
