Queues build as emergency crews attend M25 crash near Potters Bar

Published at 2:53pm

Queues are building on the M25 anticlockwise near Potters Bar this afternoon after a crash brought emergency crews to the motorway.

The AA reports two lanes blocked and queueing traffic for one mile due to the accident on the M25 anticlockwise from junction 25 for the A10 at Enfield to junction 24 for the A111 Stagg Hill at Potters Bar. Lanes three and four of four are affected.

Emergency services are attending the crash. Drivers heading anticlockwise through the area should expect delays and allow extra time for their journeys.

It is not yet known what caused the crash, how many vehicles were involved, or whether anyone was hurt. No clearance time has been given, and the motorway itself has not been reported closed.

With lanes three and four blocked, only the two left-hand lanes remain open past the scene, which is why queues have built up to around a mile despite the motorway staying open. What we know so far: a crash on the anticlockwise carriageway between junctions 25 and 24, emergency services on scene, and two lanes closed. What we do not yet know: the cause, the vehicles involved, whether anyone was injured, and when the road will fully clear.

This is a developing story. Live updates will appear below as more information becomes available.

Elsewhere on the M25 this week, drivers face a series of overnight closures across four nights, while earlier today the Dartford Tunnel anticlockwise reopened after a crash hold.
