A man has been arrested after a police chase involving a suspected stolen car ended near a primary school in Enfield on Sunday night.

Officers tried to stop the car at around 7.35pm on Lovells Road, Enfield, after it was believed to have been stolen. The pursuit came to an end near Honilands Primary School, where a man was reportedly seen entering the school grounds.

Police helicopters were heard circling over the Elsige Estate, a short distance from Turkey Street station, as the incident unfolded.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A 37-year-old man remains in police custody after he was arrested on suspicion of various offences including theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, and criminal damage.”

No injuries were reported, the force confirmed.

The arrest follows a series of police operations targeting vehicle crime in the capital. The Met has been stepping up its response to stolen vehicles, with recent operations resulting in multiple arrests.

Enfield has seen several police incidents in recent weeks, including emergency responses across north and east London.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Metropolitan Police on 101.
