London Eye unwraps its Christmas 2026 experiences

Published at 7:10pm

Father Christmas is taking his grotto to new heights this year — 135 metres above the River Thames. The London Eye has unwrapped its programme of Christmas experiences for 2026, giving families the chance to meet the man in red inside a glass capsule high above the capital.

The festive line-up runs from 14 November to 3 January, with the headline attraction — appearances by Father Christmas himself on the London Eye — running from 21 November to Christmas Eve. That gives families more than a month to book a visit with Santa, while the wider programme continues into the new year for anyone who prefers to soak up the atmosphere after the big day.

The Santa experience begins before families even board. Visitors will be greeted by one of Santa’s elves in a special space full of crafts, games and sweet treats, where children can get into the spirit of the season. They will then step into their capsule for a very special meeting with Father Christmas, complete with stories, surprises and a special gift for every child.

It promises to be one of the more unusual places in the capital to tick off a visit to Santa’s grotto this year — with the whole of London spread out beneath the capsule as the meeting takes place.

Evening visitors are in for a different kind of magic. After dark, the Eye offers a spectacular view of the city at night, and the landmark will be illuminated every evening in a Christmas light show, adding to the festive glow along the South Bank.

The celebrations extend beyond the Santa experience. Throughout the season, festively decorated pods will host special flights with audio narration from Father Christmas, sharing Christmas stories of London past and present as the wheel turns. These festive flights are included in every ticket from 14 November, so all visitors during the season get a taste of the celebrations. Daytime visitors will also be able to enjoy the seasonal touches, with the decorated pods and festive narration running throughout the season from 14 November.

For those who like their Christmas with a little extra sparkle, there is a Festive Champagne Flight, pairing the seasonal flight with Moët & Chandon champagne and a few seasonal surprises along the way.

Food lovers, meanwhile, can book the Festive Afternoon Tea. Served as the city drifts by below, it features seasonal savouries and sweet treats including turkey, ham and mustard mayonnaise sandwiches, eggnog cupcakes, red hazelnut choux and traditional mince pies, rounded off with a selection of curated teas.

The Eye is also pitching itself as a venue for work Christmas parties, with private hire options for teams looking to celebrate the season with the best view in the capital. It is being positioned as an alternative to the usual office party — a private capsule, the skyline at night and a glass of something sparkling.

The announcement comes as London gears up for another busy festive season, with the Eye joining a packed calendar of winter attractions across the capital.

A London Eye spokesperson said: “There’s nowhere quite like London at Christmas, and there’s no better view than 135 metres above the city. This year, the London Eye is turning up the sparkle with a full line-up of festive experiences running from 14 November to 3 January.”

The announcement lands as the capital’s festive calendar takes shape for the season. For families weighing up where to meet Father Christmas this year, a grotto suspended above the Thames is about as memorable as it gets. It is one of several festive experiences announced for the capital this winter, with the season running right through to 3 January.
