The latest London 25C forecast promises a final taste of summer next week, with the Met Office predicting highs of 25C in the capital on Monday 21 September.
Temperatures are expected to peak at 4pm on Monday in London, Reading and Cambridge, before the 25C warmth returns on Tuesday 22 September across London, Cambridge, Peterborough and the south-east, The Sun reported.
The prediction was first reported on 17 September, with forecasters again pointing to 25C highs in London at 4pm on Monday as autumn’s arrival is delayed.
The warm spell will follow a gloomier weekend, with clouds and patchy rain moving across the south. Sunday should stay largely dry but cloudy, with temperatures ranging from the low teens to the early twenties. Earlier in September, lows of 12C and 13C were recorded.
According to the Met Office: “These temperatures would be notably warm for late September and could offer a final taste of summer before autumn becomes more firmly established.”
Those hoping to make the most of any weekend sunshine should first check this weekend’s planned Tube and Overground closures before travelling.
The late warm spell follows a summer in which an NHS survey found patients had died on suffocating hospital wards during heatwaves — a reminder of how seriously the capital takes hot weather.
