A hit Christmas party show is getting a new home in south-east London, with Humbug moving to Greenwich Borough Hall for its 2026 season.
The festive experience, which blends a stage show with a party atmosphere, live music, games and audience participation, will run at the Woolwich venue from Friday, December 4 to Thursday, December 24, 2026. Tickets start from £18.50.
The show is now produced by Niche Productions Group, which is promising a bigger and louder edition with a brand-new storyline putting the audience at the centre of the action.
This year’s plot sees Santa Claus discover a love of rock and roll and abandon his Christmas duties to join the house band, Johnny Whiskey & The Barflies.
Audiences arrive at what looks like Santa’s festive bash, but they carry a secret mission: to persuade him to get back to delivering presents — and save Christmas.
Through the evening, guests take part in games, challenges and singalongs, alongside live performances from Santa and the band. If the mission succeeds, the night ends with a full festive dancefloor celebration.
Returning visitors can expect the features that made the show a hit, including live music, themed cocktails, audience participation and the return of the famous “shrine to Mariah”.
The production team has strong credentials in immersive entertainment, with past credits including The Crystal Maze, Tokyo Nights, Backyard Cinema, The Traitors: Live Experience and Punchdrunk’s Viola’s Room.
Corey Bennett, managing director of Niche Productions Group, said Humbug had been a hit with London audiences because it is “everything you want a Christmas party to be” — fun, silly, a little bit naughty and “disgustingly festive”.
He said the team were keeping the elements audiences know and love while “turning everything else up”, with a bigger live stage show, a new home in Greenwich and a story that puts the crowd “right in the middle of the action”.
The ambition, he added, is to stage “the biggest and loudest Humbug yet” — a proper Christmas night out to eat, drink, sing, dance and be “completely ridiculous for a few hours”.
Greenwich Borough Hall will be transformed into a festive venue with space for up to 600 guests at each performance.
Food and drink will be provided by Thirty Food Gallery, with festive dishes and themed cocktails on offer — including the comeback of Humbug’s signature Bah F*ckin Humbug drink.
Three ticket tiers will be on sale: VIP Cabaret Tables with table service and a welcome drink, Beer Hall seating in the centre of the action, and allocated Balcony seats overlooking the room.
Group bookings and exclusive hire of the whole venue will also be available for businesses and larger parties.
The event is strictly for adults aged 18 and over, thanks to its adult humour and themes.
Tickets are available now through the show’s official website.
The Woolwich venue is easy to reach, sitting close to the town centre with the Elizabeth line and DLR on the doorstep, making it a straightforward journey from across the capital.
Humbug has built a loyal following in the capital with its mix of theatre and party, and the move to a 600-capacity venue signals the producers’ confidence that demand will be stronger than ever.
With the run covering the three weeks before Christmas, it is likely to become a fixture of office party season — though the 18+ rule means it is one for the grown-ups rather than the little ones.
It adds to a packed festive calendar in the borough. Santa’s grotto is also returning to Woolwich with a month of family shows.
And those who worship at the “shrine to Mariah” may want to catch the real thing — Mariah Carey is among the headline names for the O2’s winter gig season.
