Elizabeth line passengers face four days of reduced evening services

Published at 11:41am

Elizabeth line passengers face four evenings of reduced services, with the last trains of the night on the Reading route curtailed or retimed.

The 10.17pm Abbey Wood to Reading train will only run as far as Maidenhead on Sunday (October 19), Monday (October 20), Tuesday (October 21) and Wednesday (October 22). Passengers heading to Twyford and Reading should change at Maidenhead for the 11.38pm GWR service.

For step-free interchange from platform three to platform one at Maidenhead, use the lift to the main entrance, then continue at street level under the railway bridge and up Shoppenhangers Road to the car park. Staff can open the gate to platform one — allow extra time for the journey.

The 11.17pm Reading to Paddington service will start at Maidenhead at 11.33pm instead. A later GWR service will run at 11.50pm from Reading to Paddington, stopping at Twyford, Reading and Slough.

Check before you travel

The four-day reduction is another headache in a tough week for London’s evening commuters — alongside Central line delays from the North Acton signal failure and the Thameslink tree blockage near Bromley.

Passengers on the western Elizabeth line branch should check the TfL status page before setting out, allow extra time, and keep an eye on platform announcements at Abbey Wood, Slough and Reading.
