A new half marathon is coming to south London, with 12,000 runners set to take on a 13.1-mile route through Morden, Wimbledon and Raynes Park.
Run South London will take place on Sunday, March 14, 2027, guiding runners past some of the area’s best-known landmarks, including the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon Common and Wimbledon Village.
The event is delivered by The Great Run Company in partnership with Merton Council, and aims to promote community spirit while showing off the best of south London. It is expected to become a flagship occasion for the area, drawing participants from across London and beyond.
Councillor Ross Garrod, leader of Merton Council, said: “Run South London is going to be a fantastic showcase for Merton and everything that makes our borough London’s Borough of Sport. Intrepid joining as an official Run South London partner will bring their sense of community and life-long experiences to the event. The event plans are shaping up for an amazing half marathon and a lasting legacy beyond race day.”
The Great Run Company is the organiser behind the Great North Run, the world’s largest half marathon, and brings that experience to the new south London event. The company has also announced a partnership with Intrepid Travel, which specialises in small-group adventure travel and has more than 35 years of experience creating locally-led travel experiences. Intrepid Travel has recently recertified as a B Corp under B Lab’s new global standards.
Emily Frost-Meade, partnerships director at The Great Run Company, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Intrepid as a partner of Run South London. As we build a brand-new event for South London, it’s important that we work with organisations that share our commitment to community and bringing people together. Intrepid’s focus on meaningful experiences and human connections makes them a natural fit for Run South London, and we’re looking forward to working together ahead of the inaugural event in March.”
Sophie Buxton, head of marketing UK and Europe at Intrepid Travel, said: “At Intrepid, we believe the best experiences are the ones that bring people together – whether that be at the start line of a run or while travelling around the world. We’re excited to be part of Run South London’s inaugural year and to support an event that celebrates community and encourages new connections.”
The route itself is a tour of south-west London’s greenest corners. From Morden, runners will head through Raynes Park and Wimbledon, passing the All England Club — home of the Wimbledon tennis championships — before crossing Wimbledon Common and running through Wimbledon Village.
The 13.1-mile course is the standard half marathon distance, just over 21 kilometres, and the March 2027 race will be the event’s first edition.

The half marathon adds to a busy calendar of events in the capital, from the Christmas markets opening across London this weekend to Hackney Empire’s 125th anniversary season.
