Brothers jailed for 20 years over brutal attack in King’s Cross

Published at 6:49am

Two brothers have been jailed for a total of 20 years after a man was left with life-changing injuries in an unprovoked knife attack in King’s Cross.

Reece Williams, 30, of Northdown Street, Islington, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 12 years. His brother Darrell Williams, 27, of Gloucester Drive, Hackney, was sentenced to a minimum of eight years. Both were sentenced on Wednesday 4 November, after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife at Wood Green Crown Court.

Police were called at 5.40pm on Monday 15 September 2025 after a man was found with serious stab wounds on Beaconsfield Street, King’s Cross. Officers provided emergency support to London Ambulance Service paramedics before the 27-year-old victim was taken to hospital, where he was found to have life-changing injuries. He had been left fighting for his life.

Met detectives immediately launched an investigation, quickly identifying Reece and Darrell Williams as their suspects. Officers seized and examined hundreds of hours of CCTV, putting together a full picture of the incident — showing that Reece had acted as the attacker and Darrell as his getaway driver. They were arrested just nine days later.

The footage showed Reece driving with his brother Darrell along York Way at 5.31pm, where he spotted his victim walking along the same road. The car pulled over to let Reece out, before doing a U-turn on Wharf Road, where he picked him back up following the attack at 5.36pm. They then drove home together. The attack itself lasted around eight seconds.

On Wednesday 24 September, the brothers were arrested at their family home following a series of warrants assisted by City of London Police. In the addresses, officers found clothes that matched the outfits worn in the CCTV.

Reece Williams pleaded guilty at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday 11 November 2025. Darrell Williams pleaded guilty at the same court on Thursday 30 July 2026.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarb Kaur, whose team led the investigation, said: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack, which left a man fighting for his life. Our officers responded quickly, identifying both brothers, establishing their roles and bringing them to justice. These sentences send a clear message: those who inflict serious violence on our streets will be pursued and held accountable.”
