Man charged with attempted murder after Islington shooting and stabbing

Published at 3:31pm

A man has been charged with attempted murder after an incident in Islington in which two men were shot and a third man was allegedly stabbed.

Eugene Asiedu, of Hatcham Park Road, Lewisham, was arrested on Sunday 1 November and charged today, Monday 2 November, with attempted murder and possession of a knife or bladed article. He is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Tuesday 3 November.

The charges follow an alleged incident in Parkfield Street at 10.25pm on Tuesday 27 October. Two men, aged 33 and 27, were each found with a gunshot wound and taken to hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

Police confirmed a 36-year-old man was also allegedly stabbed. His injuries were neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

The update does not say whether anyone has been charged in connection with the shootings, and no plea has yet been entered — Asiedu’s first court appearance is tomorrow.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 7386/27OCT, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Islington has seen other recent court cases, including an Islington voyeur jailed for four years after patrol officers caught him filming, while Westminster and Croydon jointly topped the capital for weapons possession offences in September.
