M25 Clacket Lane reopens after lorry breakdown caused long delays

Published at 7:39am | Updated: 30 October 2026 at 11:12am

Long delays are building on the M25 clockwise this morning after a lorry broke down between Sevenoaks and Godstone, closing two of the four lanes before Clacket Lane Services.

Recovery work is under way at the scene. Congestion had already stretched back to junction 5, where the M25 meets the M26 and A21 at Sevenoaks, with queues of more than two miles reported on the M26 itself.

LIVE

Live updates will appear above as the situation develops.

Clacket Lane Services sits between junctions 5 and 6 on the clockwise carriageway, so the closure is hitting drivers heading from the M26 interchange towards Godstone.

This is a separate incident from the planned Halloween weekend closures on the motorway, which include the anticlockwise closure at junction 15 from 8pm on Saturday to 10am on Sunday. Details of all the weekend closures are in our Halloween weekend closures round-up.

The live updates so far give no clearance time for the closed lanes, and mention no injuries or any other vehicles beyond the broken-down lorry.

An earlier M25 incident this week, a crash on the clockwise carriageway between junctions 26 and 27, was also covered live. See our M25 clockwise crash J26 to J27 live coverage.

Update, 11:00: All lanes have now reopened on the M25 clockwise between junctions 5 (Sevenoaks) and 6 (Godstone), with recovery complete. Delays of around 20 minutes remain, with four miles of congestion, but the incident is clearing. This live blog is now closed.
