A 50-centimetre machete has been seized after a moped rider fled from police across a pavement in Paddington.
The incident happened on Bourne Terrace, near Royal Oak station, last Thursday (15 October) at around 8.05pm.
According to the Metropolitan Police, officers first approached the rider and told him to switch off his engine — but he drove away instead.
Pavement chase
The moped mounted the pavement and tried to enter a narrow canal footpath, police said. The rider then fell from the moped and was detained by officers.
During a search following the arrest, officers seized a machete measuring around 50cm in length.
The man was arrested. Further details about charges have not yet been released.
