Commuters are facing severe disruption on the London Underground this morning as signal failures hit the Northern and District lines.
The Northern line is part suspended between East Finchley and Camden Town, with severe delays between East Finchley and High Barnet.
The District line has severe delays on several branches from Earl’s Court, with minor delays between Wimbledon and Earl’s Court and between Tower Hill and Upminster.
Tickets are being accepted on London Buses, and on South Western Railway for affected District line passengers.
What we know
Signal failures are among the most disruptive issues on the Underground. When signals fail, trains cannot run safely — leading to suspensions and severe delays.
The Northern line is one of the busiest on the network, carrying hundreds of thousands of passengers each day. A part suspension between East Finchley and Camden Town affects a key section through north London.
The District line, which serves west, central and east London, is also seeing significant disruption on its branches from Earl’s Court.
Advice for commuters
If you’re travelling this morning, check the TfL website or app before setting out. Allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes.
Tickets are being accepted on London Buses, which can help you complete your journey. South Western Railway is also accepting tickets for affected District line passengers.
