An overturned caravan has closed three lanes of the M25 near Staines, sparking long delays for drivers on one of the country’s busiest motorways.
The incident happened on the anticlockwise carriageway between Junction 13 for Staines and Junction 12, where emergency services rushed to the scene. Traffic is very heavy between Uxbridge and Wisley, with tailbacks stretching back towards Junction 14 as recovery work continues.
Motorists are being warned to expect lengthy hold-ups and to allow extra time for their journeys, with the closures likely to remain in place while the caravan is cleared from the carriageway. This is a developing story — our live blog below is being updated with the latest information as we get it. Drivers are advised to check before they travel and consider alternative routes where possible.
The M25 has seen a string of disruptions in recent days. A separate incident at Thorpe saw an overturned car bring all lanes to a standstill, while a lorry fire near Enfield closed two lanes and a crash on the A406 North Circular at Stirling Way also caused delays.
