Police have arrested a man after a group brawl on a Hackney street in which witnesses reported seeing a knife.
Officers were called to Appleby Street just after 9am on Friday, September 25, following reports of a fight between several men.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said it is believed that a man was stabbed during the disturbance. Witnesses told officers they had seen a knife at the scene.
However, the alleged victim had already left the area before police arrived. A crime scene was set up while officers carried out their initial enquiries. It comes after a CCTV appeal was launched after a man was punched in the face at Hackney Downs station.
Police are appealing for anyone with information, or with doorbell or dashcam footage, to come forward. They can call 101 quoting reference 1684/25SEP.
Officers investigating violent crime across the capital have also charged three more men over a fatal shooting in Newham, while two teenagers were sentenced for manslaughter over the Old Kent Road killing.
