A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a 21-year-old was stabbed twice on the dancefloor at a busy Halloween event at a Greenwich nightclub.
Immanuel Francis-Gordon, 24, of Whytecliffe Road, Croydon, was arrested within hours of the assault and charged on Saturday 31 October, the Metropolitan Police said.
He will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday 2 November.
The stabbing happened at a nightclub on Boord Street, Greenwich — Studio 338 — on Friday 30 October, at a busy event ahead of Halloween.
The 21-year-old victim was stabbed twice in the thigh and taken to hospital, where his condition was confirmed to be non-life changing.
Attendees took to social media to record footage of the large-scale evacuation that followed.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers investigating a stabbing at a nightclub in Boord Street, Greenwich on Friday, 30 October have charged a man with grievous bodily harm.”
Grievous bodily harm is a serious offence, and the first court appearance at Bromley Magistrates’ Court will deal with the early stages of the case. The defendant has been charged, not convicted, and the case will now proceed through the courts.
Studio 338 is one of the Greenwich Peninsula’s largest night-time venues, drawing big crowds for weekend and seasonal events. A stabbing on a packed dancefloor at a Halloween event, followed by a large-scale evacuation, will have been frightening for those inside — and the arrest within hours shows how quickly officers moved once the incident was reported.
Detectives are likely to continue appealing for witnesses and footage from the night as the case progresses.
