Police incident stops traffic on M25 near Lakeside junction 31

Published at 11:01am

Traffic is being temporarily held on the M25 due to a police incident near junction 31.

The incident occurred on the clockwise carriageway at the A282 Canterbury Way, near Lakeside, on Sunday.

Drivers in the area are facing queueing traffic while the incident is dealt with.

The nature of the police incident, and when the road is expected to fully reopen, have not yet been confirmed.

Junction 31 is one of the busiest interchanges on the London orbital motorway, serving Lakeside shopping centre and the Dartford Crossing approach, so a hold on the clockwise carriageway here can quickly build queues back along the M25.

Drivers heading clockwise through the area on Sunday are advised to check live traffic before travelling and to allow extra time.
