The oceans are coming to Wembley. Blue Planet III Live in Concert will play two dates at the OVO Arena Wembley on 4 and 5 June 2027, bringing the BBC natural-history series to life with a full orchestra, a giant screen and the woman who produced it all.
The show is hosted by Elizabeth White, the executive producer of the Blue Planet III television series, who will share stories and insights from the making of the programmes. Footage from the series will be projected on a 200 square metre Ultra HD LED screen — roughly the size of a tennis court — while the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra performs the score live.
The music was composed for Bleeding Fingers Music by Hans Zimmer, Thom Lukas and Laurentia Editha. Zimmer’s name alone guarantees a certain spectacle — this is the composer behind the scores of Gladiator, The Lion King and Dune — and hearing his ocean writing performed live, in full, will be a very different experience from the television mix.
“Making Blue Planet III has taken us to places we never imagined we’d film,” said Elizabeth White. “But there’s something about bringing that footage into a concert arena full of people, with the score performed live all around you, that will be truly special.
“This tour is our chance to share the series on a completely different scale, and I can’t wait to be there live, revealing the extraordinary stories behind what audiences are seeing on screen.”
What to expect at Wembley
Live-in-concert arena shows have become a genre in their own right over the past decade — Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II both toured with live orchestras to sold-out houses — but this edition promises a step up in scale. The 200 square metre screen dwarfs the setups used on the previous tours, and the two-night Wembley stand gives London the tour’s longest residency-style run.
Expect the franchise’s signature material: deep-sea bioluminescence, reef systems at golden hour, the kind of sequences that made the earlier series famous — cut to the score as it was written, with the orchestra matching the edit beat for beat.
The Blue Planet III series
Blue Planet III is the latest chapter in the BBC’s defining natural-history franchise. The original Blue Planet in 2001 changed how ocean documentaries were made; Blue Planet II in 2017 became a genuine cultural moment, its scenes of plastic-choked seas credited with shifting public attitudes and even policy.
The third series returns to the oceans with new camera technology and locations the earlier programmes could not reach. The arena tour is effectively the victory lap — the footage presented not as television, but as a shared live event.
When the show is on
The Wembley dates are Thursday 4 and Friday 5 June 2027. Two consecutive nights is unusual for a touring orchestral production — the full orchestra, screen rig and crew need to be installed in the arena for the run — and it suggests strong expected demand.
Summer at the OVO Arena is traditionally a busy window, with the venue’s calendar filling fast by spring. Anyone planning to go should book as early as possible and check the official tour and venue pages for on-sale times, seating plans and age guidance.
Wembley this summer
The arena remains one of London’s best-loved indoor venues, easy to reach on the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines and London Overground to Wembley Park. It has a habit of hosting the tours that matter — the biggest orchestral productions, the arena residencies, the one-off spectaculars.
Blue Planet III Live fits that mould neatly. And if your June ends up needing a full weekend, the rest of the capital is hardly short of options — from a Japanese-inspired arcade bar that opened in Soho to the pubs offering half-price pints on Saturdays across the boroughs.
For now, diary the dates: 4 and 5 June 2027. The oceans are coming to Wembley, and they’ll be louder than you remember.
