Enfield’s MP has condemned the “devastating” fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man at a pub in her constituency, saying gun violence has no place in the community.
Feryal Clark, MP for Enfield North, spoke out after the man was shot and killed at the Sun and Woolpack pub on Hertford Road at around 9.30pm on Monday evening.
“I am deeply saddened by the fatal shooting at the Sun and Woolpack pub on Hertford Road last night, in which a 35-year-old man lost his life,” Ms Clark said.
“My thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this devastating incident.”
“Thank you to the emergency services who attended and tried to save his life.”
“I know this will cause considerable concern locally. Gun violence has no place in our community.”
The man’s death has shocked Enfield. Floral tributes have been laid at the junction of Turkey Street and Hertford Road, where bouquets of flowers now mark the spot of Monday’s shooting.
Detectives have launched a murder investigation and released CCTV images of a person they want to identify and speak to as their enquiries progress.
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, has urged anyone who was in the area — or who has CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage — to come forward.
“Even information that may seem insignificant could prove crucial,” DCI Bhangoo said. “No piece of information is too small, and I would urge anyone who believes they can help to contact police.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.”
No arrests have been made so far. Images from the scene show forensic officers at work as detectives continue to piece together what happened.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 7050/19OCT26, or to contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
