Flowers left at Enfield pub shooting scene as murder probe grows

Published at 4:02pm

Floral tributes have been left at the scene of last night’s fatal shooting at a pub in Enfield, as the murder investigation gathers pace.

Bouquets of flowers have been placed at the junction of Turkey Street and Hertford Road, close to where a 35-year-old man was shot dead at around 9.30pm on Monday evening.

The shooting took place at a pub on Hertford Road. The man was treated at the scene for gunshot wounds but was pronounced dead despite the efforts of emergency services.

“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a man was pronounced dead at the scene,” a London Ambulance Service spokesperson said.

Detectives have released CCTV images of a person they want to identify and speak to in connection with the investigation, and are urging anyone who was in the area to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time as they begin to come to terms with this senseless act.”

“We are releasing CCTV images of a person we would like to identify and speak to in connection with the investigation as our enquiries progress swiftly.”

“We are also particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage that could assist our enquiries.”

“Even information that may seem insignificant could prove crucial. No piece of information is too small, and I would urge anyone who believes they can help to contact police.”

Images from the scene show forensic officers at work as detectives continue to piece together what happened. No arrests have been made.

The shooting has shocked the local community, with the flowers a small sign of the grief felt by residents and regulars of the pub.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD 7050/19OCT26, or to contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Enquiries remain ongoing.
