Southeastern trains cancelled and Elizabeth line delayed in Tuesday morning disruption

Commuters faced a difficult start to Tuesday as Southeastern cancelled high-speed train services and the Elizabeth line suffered severe delays.

Several Southeastern high-speed services were cancelled on Tuesday morning while urgent repairs were carried out to the railway at Stratford International.

Which trains are affected

National Rail confirmed three early-morning services were cancelled: two running between London St Pancras and Faversham, and one between London St Pancras and Ashford. A number of other services have been revised, with passengers urged to check before travelling.

The disruption affects the high-speed route that connects London with Kent — a key commuter corridor into the capital. Southeastern advised passengers to allow extra time and check live departure boards.

Elizabeth line delays

Meanwhile, the Elizabeth line was reporting severe delays between Paddington and Heathrow Terminals, as well as towards Reading, due to a signal failure.

Transport for London told passengers to check the latest service updates before setting out. The delays add to a frustrating morning for west London commuters and airport travellers.

What to do if you’re travelling

Passengers are advised to check National Rail Enquiries and the TfL website for the latest updates. Southeastern tickets are typically accepted on alternative reasonable routes during disruption, though passengers should confirm with staff.

For Elizabeth line users heading to Heathrow, the Piccadilly line and Heathrow Express remain alternatives — though the Heathrow Express comes at a premium.

London Streets will update this story as the situation develops.
