Tommy Robinson arrives at court as harassment trial opens

Published at 5:30pm

Tommy Robinson has arrived at Southwark Crown Court as his trial over the alleged harassment of two journalists gets under way.

Robinson, 43, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, faces two counts of harassment causing fear of violence against MailOnline reporters Andrew Young and Jacob Dirnhuber.

The charges relate to alleged incidents between August 5 and 7, 2024, involving X posts, direct messages and an alleged phone call.

Prosecutors allege Robinson told Mr Young he would visit his house, saying “I’m coming to get you”, and sent Mr Dirnhuber a message saying “I’ll be knocking at your door”.

Robinson entered not guilty pleas to the charges in July last year and elected for a jury trial. The trial is expected to last five days.

He arrived at court on Monday to cheers from supporters, including one man in a Union flag suit, and spoke to them outside the court building.

This is a developing story.
