Editorial Policy

Who we are

London Streets is an independent news publication covering London — its neighbourhoods, councils, police and courts, transport and community life. We publish original reporting for Londoners, written in plain British English.

How we report

  • Primary sources first. Wherever possible we verify stories against the original source: Metropolitan Police newsroom releases, London Fire Brigade, Transport for London, London councils, courts and official government publications. When a story draws on an official release, we say so in the article and link to it.
  • No invented facts. We never invent quotes, numbers, names, dates or events. If a detail cannot be verified, we leave it out or say what is not yet known.
  • Allegations vs convictions. We distinguish carefully between an allegation, a charge, a plea, a conviction and a sentence — and we respect the presumption of innocence.
  • Fresh writing. Every article is written originally for London Streets. We do not copy or republish other outlets’ work.

Corrections

We correct errors promptly and transparently. If we publish something wrong, we fix the article and add an “Updated” note with the date and time of the correction. Minor corrections (typos, formatting) are fixed silently; factual corrections are always noted.

To request a correction, contact us via our Contact page. We aim to respond within 2 working days.

Updates

Developing stories are updated as new verified information arrives. Each update is timestamped so readers can see what changed and when.

Images

Every article carries a real, relevant photograph. We use officially reusable images (e.g. Met Police media-use images) or Creative Commons licensed photographs, and we credit the photographer and licence in the image caption.

Independence

London Streets is independently run. Our coverage is not influenced by advertisers, political parties or any external organisation.
